King coconut (Cocos nucifera var aurantiaca) is a variety of coconut, native to the Sri Lanka which has high sugar content and sweeter than regular coconuts.

The king coconut water, or liquid endosperm of young King coconut is a nutritious, natural beverage as it is rich in sugars (mainly reducing sugars), minerals (mainly K+), vitamins (mainly B & C) and amino acids. King coconut water has been used in Ayurveda (herbal medicine). 

 The coconut water is used to treat urinary tract and kidney troubles and is recommended for pregnant and nursing mothers. Despite being grown in the hot, humid tropics, the water within the King coconut is often prescribed for its cooling effects. The water is also given to infants for intestinal troubles and is applied topically on babies with prickly heat.
